What I wore to the Writers' and Readers' Festival: Day One - in which I fail miserably as an outfit blogger.

A quick update before I run out the door for day one of the Writers' and Readers' Festival:

My picks for today are:
1. Caroline Moorehead discussing A Train in Winter - her book about the deportation of 230 Frenchwomen to Auschwitz - 10 am in the ASB Theatre.
2. Martin Edmond and Greg O'Brien discussing McCahon and the Micronaut (Graham Percy), 11.30 am also ASB Theatre.
3.Emily Perkins in discussion with Paula Morris about her much lauded new novel, The Forrests, 2.30 pm in the lower NZI Room, Aotea Centre.
4. Broken Britain, 4 pm ASB Theatre - Stella Rimmington, AD Miller and Geoff Dyer discuss what's wrong with Britain today - riots, GFC, etc.

A busy schedule! What are you going to? What are you looking forward to?

For today's mad running up and down the hill from the University to the Aotea Centre and back again, I'm wearing a handmade navy silk ikat print dress, vintage Patrick Steel nautical blazer, my fantastic Cuban-heeled boots, tights (natch) and MAC's Girl About Town; carrying my enormous Karen Walker for Swandri bag that can fit iPad, iPhone, books for authors to sign, pens, notebook, water bottle and mints - essential supplies for the dedicated festival goer. Only managed a creepy work bathroom self-portrait. Will do better tomorrow, I swear.
.At least the lipstick's looking good.
